This is no busy riding school — our base is tucked away in the forest
Visegride specialises in guided trail rides through the beautiful forests of the Visegrád Hills, about 30 km north of Budapest. At the heart of every visit are the same three things: our horses, the landscape and a genuinely warm welcome. It is personal, never a production line.
The name Visegride is a playful blend of ‘Visegrád’, our much-loved town, and the word ‘ride’.
Two people, one shared passion
We are Zoltán Tisza (Zoli) and Szilvia Váradi (Sziszi). On most rides, you'll meet both of us. On the trail and behind the scenes, we work together to make sure every guest goes home with memories worth keeping.
The creative force behind Visegride
She runs our social media, films and edits our videos, and is usually the first person you'll speak to when booking a ride. She chose to train as a trail guide when she realised she wanted to share this special place with others.
The welcome after a ride is largely her doing, too — from the home-baked cakes and little treats to that unmistakable feeling of wanting to stay a while longer and chat.
She's the owner of Etna, the black Fell pony, and Bella, the Fjord mare.
Horseman, forester and expert guide
He has lived and worked around the Pap-rét Forestry House for more than twenty years as the district forester. Almost nobody knows the paths, meadows and hidden tracks of the Visegrád Hills better than he does.
He is a qualified International Trail Riding Guide, Riding Instructor (Hippologist) and equestrian event organiser. He trained every one of our trail horses himself — from their first groundwork as youngsters to carrying our guests safely along the trails of the Pilis.
He's a member of the mounted section of the Order of Saint George of Visegrád and a regular participant in traditional equestrian displays.
Riding is about far more than two hours in the saddle.
We love sharing the finest corners of these hills and spending time with our horses — and nothing makes us happier than guests heading home already planning their next visit.
Choose the experience that suits you
2-hour trail ride
Our most popular programme. Weekend rides include refreshments afterwards.
Longer rides
Three- to four-hour adventures to places further afield, including Prédikálószék, Sikárosi-rét and Nagyvillám.
Trail ride + forest restaurant
Ride through the forest for lunch or dinner, then return to our base in the saddle.
After the ride, we gather round the table
There are always refreshments waiting when you return — a hot dish, a cold platter or home-baked cake. We prepare everything ourselves, with care.
This is the time to rest, talk and relive the best moments of the ride. We never hurry our guests through; nothing pleases us more than welcoming you back as a familiar face.
Four companions you can trust
Zoli trained each of our trail horses — sure-footed, calm and dependable partners on the mountain paths.
